Simply Devine: Catholic Charities Annual d’Vine Affair

Simply Devine: Catholic Charities Annual d’Vine Affair

The wine was flowing and the desserts never-ending at the 13th Annual Catholic Charities d’Vine Affair as festivities began on a cold and snowy Sunday afternoon one week before the Super Bowl ….

The Union League Club (65 W. Jackson) was the perfect location for this notable fundraiser, which raised $95,000 and showcased over 250 types of wine from across the globe. According to Monsignor Michael Boland, “Our self sufficiency programs, which help break the cycle of homelessness, poverty, and welfare through case management and employment training, continue to grow in need …. The d’Vine Affair directly benefits these vital programs.”

400 devoted guests gathered to show their support for this wonderful cause and were treated like royalty by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago; one of the biggest non-profit social agencies in the U.S. By assisting over one million people every year throughout Cook and Lake county, this marvelous service organization does not discriminate; regardless of race, religion, etc.

Accompanied by educational wine seminars from accomplished sommeliers Patrick Fegan and Bob Bansberg, exceptional wine samples were offered while visitors were encouraged to ask questions and take notes.

For 96 years, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago has proven to be a rare example of one of the most reliable social service agencies; and this party was a perfect example of their amazing capabilities.

Congratulations to President Michael Boland, Joseph and Helen Glunz (Glunz Wine Inc.) and co-chairs John and Teddi Scholz for coordinating this remarkable event.
