Opening Ceremony Coverage For Olympic Games Paris 2024

Spread the love

The Olympics is back and is happening in Paris starting July 26, 2024, the day of its opening ceremony. Not everyone will make it to the city of love to witness athletes parade the Seine in style in real time—and thankfully, this won’t be an issue.

The entire ceremony will be live on NBC and Peacock on Friday, July 26, at Noon ET with star-studded hosting.

NBCUniversal plans to use the Paris Summer Games to bring in younger audiences. Hence a lineup of exciting hosts and coverage of the event.

In March it was announced that Emmy Award-winning talk show host and Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning will join two-time Sports Emmy Award-winner and NBC Olympics Primetime host Mike Tirico to host NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony.

They will be joined by TODAY Show hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, who will be stationed on a bridge along the pageantry route.

Clarkson, popularly known as the original American Idol, was the winner of the first season of American Idol in 2002. She is currently the host and producer of The Kelly Clarkson Show, distributed by NBCUniversal Syndication Studios.

After retiring from the NFL, Manning started Omaha Productions, an American entertainment company. He has won two Sports Emmy Awards for Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli, a broadcast on ESPN2 which he co-hosts with his brother and former NFL quarterback, Eli Manning.

Guthrie, a former attorney and seasoned journalist, isn’t new to hosting coverage for the Olympics. She has hosted past Olympic Games on TODAY and Paris 2024 will be her second time hosting coverage of the opening ceremony.

Guthrie co-hosted NBCU’s Opening Ceremony coverage for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 and the Beijing Olympic Winter Games in 2022.

Kotb, who co-anchors the NBC News morning show Today, was also a co-host for the Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.

The Paris 2024 opening ceremony will take place in glamorous style on the famous River Seine.

Over 90 boats are expected to glide past hundreds of thousands of spectators seated on the banks of The Seine and finish at the Eiffel Tower while carrying thousands of athletes from more than 200 countries.

The parade will give the athletes a good view of Paris’ most popular landmarks, including Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde, the Grand Palais, Les Invalides, and others. And it will end at the Trocadéro for the opening ceremony’s grand finale.

NBC has also said that Clarkson, Manning, and Tirico will be positioned at the Trocadero near the ceremony’s finish, with spectacular views of The Seine and Eiffel Tower.

For Clarkson and Manning, this will be their first NBCU’s Olympic coverage.

This exciting lineup of hosts is only fitting for the highly anticipated opening ceremony coverage.
