And the 2015 Awards Season Begins With Fashion & Folly from the 2015 Golden Globes

As usual, the Golden Globes are the first to kick off awards season to celebrate the year’s best movies and TV shows. This year, there was quite a great selection of movies such as The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, Boyhood, and Birdman. The TV shows/series included Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, and The Affair. It certainly added to our must-watch list before the Oscars! However, whether you’ve seen every thing that’s nominated or not, you can’t help but marvel at the gorgeous gowns and dapper tuxes that all the celebrities wear down the red carpet; they’re only outfits you wear in your wildest dreams.

Maybe you were disappointed with who won and who lost, and I’m sure you’re all caught up on Kathy Griffin’s snarkiest comments on Fashion Police or that you’ve created your own best and worst dressed list. But we have our own little list of gowns we loved, and we’re checking all negative opinions at the door to talk about how beautiful and successful an event it truly was.

Quite a few actresses showed up in winter white gowns. Although it’s a neutral, the opposite of black couldn’t be more of a statement. Rosamund Pike wore a romantic, sexy Valentino gown, while Kate Hudson wore a plunging, body-con Versace.

Another statement trend of the night was pants. Why not do the opposite of what everyone else is doing or what everyone expects you to do? Regardless, stars such as Lorde and Emma Stone (both nominated for the night) knocked it out of the park. Lorde wore Narcisco Rodriguez with a Neil Lane diamond necklace. Emma Stone wore an embellished Lanvin jumpsuit.

Red wasn’t just the color of the carpet on Sunday night. Many actresses showed up in red. Girls star Allison Williams wore a glittering, embellished Armani Privé dress, while Lena Dunham wore Zac Posen. Kate Mara sported a Miu Miu gown which she belted with a nude-colored belt.

Others that showed up were Amal Clooney in Dior with fashionable white gloves, which got mixed reviews, but all-in-all made a statement. Lupita Ny’ongo donned a colorful ensemble by Giambattista Valli in which the top consisted of amethyst flower petals.

Overall many of the gowns were beautiful, and it was a glamorous night to remember. It just gets us more excited about other upcoming awards shows, including the Oscars!
