The International World Jumping Competition – Equestrian Excitement in Barcelona
I was thrilled to have been invited to cover the International World Jumping Competition in Barcelona. The event was held at the Reial Club de Polo de Barcelona and is the oldest sporting event in Spain. For the second year in a row, this international sporting event was held during the city’s annual festival, the Marce.
For 101 years the Reial Club has been hosting the sport; it’s also been 20 years since holding the Olympics in 1992.
I’ve been involved with horses most of my life, but this was truly a very special event. As my first time in Barcelona, I was hosted by Jose “Felix” Bentz, a very influential and prominent man in Spain. His exhibits and offices are located in the El Reial Cercle Artistic Institut Barcelona.
The exciting 4 day competition brought out fans from across the globe- CSIO Barcelona spotlighted 4 days of top level equestrians; the polo club’s Olympic course accommodated 20 countries featuring some of the world’s most talented riders…
On Friday, Sept. 21st, the Gran Premi de Barcelona – Copa Seat was held at night and took place in front of a captive audience during the traditional gala dinner. Also performing for the fans was Santi Serra, a world class equestrian showman. He put on an unbelievable show!
