Fur Ball: A Canine Spectacular for PAWS Chicago

Spread the love

Tails were wagging and jaws were barking at the 12th Annual Paws Chicago Fur Ball. Over 700 dog enthusiasts were in attendance at the elegant Drake Hotel on this chilly November night to celebrate man’s best friend.

Appearing in their finest party outfits and best coiffures, pooches of every pedigree showed up and were acknowledged in grand style for more than four hours. Our furry four-legged friends of the Animal Kingdom were the focus of everyone’s attention as festivities got underway (at 6:00 P.M.) with hors-d’oeuvres and cocktails in the Walton Room, accompanied by an impressive silent auction.

Amenities for all dogs (both large and small) included a dog spa with pawdicures, renowned Dog Communicator Alecia Halloran revealing your pooch’s innermost feelings, and an elaborate Pet Buffet in the French Room and Grand Ballroom.

Bringing in significant funds were this year’s auctions. The live auction included such fabulous items as a trip to the Emmy Awards, a “Super Bowl Trip of a Lifetime” and a “Night of Folly” for 12 people to be shared with Billy Corgan and Chef Curtis Duffy. Not to be overlooked was the impressive silent auction, highlighted by a one-of-a-kind experience: Rendezvous on the Red Carpet, which provides a Red Carpet attendance for next year’s premiere of “Transcendence” starring Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman.

The pinnacle event of the evening was an elaborate dinner in the Gold Coast Room and the Grand Ballroom; however, the main focal points of the gala were the informative programs in these rooms, emceed by Simon Lambert and Sean Lewis.

As 9:30 approached, the party kicked into high gear with lively dancing as vibrant music flowed throughout the French Room. Lucky winners of the raffle had their names drawn as the festive evening drew to a close…

Generous sponsorship for this outstanding event was provided by the Drake Hotel, A. Marek Fine Jewelry, and Chopper Trading.

A special thanks go out to Paula Fasseas, Honorary Chair Mayari Pritzker, and all of PAWS volunteers who helped make this year’s party a Canine Spectacular! Woof Woof!!
