The Beauty and Brains Behind June Jacobs

Spread the love

When the opportunity came up to interview June Jacobs I jumped at it. I have been very impressed with all her work and wanted to learn more about her.

If you enjoy pampering yourself to luxurious spa treatments you are probably already very familiar with June Jacobs skincare line, which is used in the finest spas around the country.

June Jacobs is an entrepreneur in the realm of natural skincare. Her 30 years of experience creating skincare lines for dermatologists and plastic surgeons culminated in the creation of the crown jewel of her work – her namesake collection “June Jacobs Naturally Serious.” It’s a little cool, young, hip, and moderate as opposed to our heritage brand that’s, you know, a little more old world.”

Backed by a patented formula of natural botanicals and potent antioxidants, June Jacobs combines traditional Mediterranean skin secrets with cutting edge science – and now she’s taking it a step further.

In my conversation with June, I learned that the skincare mogul has originated a radiation breast cream for people with breast cancer. As a breast cancer survivor herself, June discovered the need for such a remedy from her own issues with radiation therapy.

“At the time I had no intention of selling [the cream] to the public but really to treat myself, so I would be able to get through all of those sessions. I created this magical cream, gave it to my chemist and said: “Make this work.” I used it for the rest of my radiation and after to keep everything going – just to make sure the skin wasn’t breaking down anymore.”

This innovation, called ‘Rapid Repair Healing Cream’, has helped so many women. June went on to tell me that the doctor who treated her at Cornell New York Hospital had 700 of his patients on the creme, all prior to its public release last year.

Now the miracle creme is available to the public, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to cancer research. Designed to treat what’s known as “radiation dermatitis,” (otherwise known as radiation skin damage/burns,) it is also an incredible treatment for irritated skin, windburn, sunburn, eczema, as well as dry skin on your elbows, knees, and the bottom of your feet. As June says, it works tremendously for any skin that has been hurt or damaged, and can even be used as a makeup primer or a hydrating mask prior to flying.

Minutes prior to our interview I was delivered a wonderful assortment of June Jacobs highly acclaimed skincare products and was pleasantly surprised by the ingredients. Each product is free of parabens, preservatives, sulfates, dyes, petrochemicals, and even fragrance. Even though her creams have a lovely scent, “it’s still not a fragrance. It’s a natural aromatic,” she said.

I wondered if these products were deliberately conscientious of the environment, which of course they were. As June noted, in “the 21st Century we really take the environment into consideration and I think everything is becoming natural.  People are very product savvy. They look at ingredients and study labels. We use plants for the preservative system.”

June Jacobs Patented Formula
June Jacobs patented formula includes pomegranate, green tea, red tea, white tea, goji berry, and grape seed.

I mentioned that when I was reading some of the ingredients it felt like I was about to have a wonderful dinner.

“I know,” she laughed. “I also have a 20 year patent on the proprietary blend that’s in all of the products: goji berry, green tea, white tea, pomegranate and grape seed. So those five ingredients, in very high percentages, are in every single product.”

It must be this patented formula that keeps her own skin looking remarkable. Having learned the secrets of using tea leaves in her skincare items from her Mediterranean upbringing, June combined time tested traditions with clinical science. Now June runs the successful business with her daughter Rochelle, a self-proclaimed skincare junkie. I think we can see where she got the habit from.

Together they truly believe in the science of natural ingredients and are continuing to push the boundaries of medical skincare.

“We’re in the process of doing a deal with all of the Northwell Hospitals across the country,” she said. “They have approximately 35 hospitals in the United States. We are trying to put the June Jacobs brand ‘Naturally Serious’ – a new extension of our product line – in every guest room in Lenox Hill Hospital starting in April of this year.”

A very ambitious venture considering Lenox Hill is a 652-bed hospital. But June assures me that giving back to society and helping people who are sick is incredibly important to the brand name.

“It’s sort of a new venue because they usually don’t have anything great inside the guest rooms at a hospital. So this is a very nice added touch.”

Very nice indeed. A luxury on par with every Grand Hyatt worldwide, where her products are also featured in every room. As for retail, June Jacobs can be found in every beauty brand store in the country, as well as many high-end spas, and in 200 Sephora stores throughout China, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

Impressive distribution, especially considering that all the products are produced from her own state at the art lab in New Jersey.

Look for the new collection ‘Naturally Serious’ launching this June.

Thank you, June Jacobs, for your time and the impact you have had on the skincare industry is phenomenal!
