“The Spirit of Latin America, in the heart of Chicago” – Latinicity

Restaurateur Chef Richard Sandoval is extending his culinary kingdom with the grand opening of Latinicity, a full-service restaurant located at Block 37 in downtown Chicago. Bringing together the flavors of Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, Latinicity promises an exquisite twist on Latin street food.

Located on the third floor of Block 37, celebrity chef Sandoval has created a “multi-sensory experience featuring 12 innovative kitchens, a tapas restaurant, coffee café, full bar, market and lounge.” The current menu features items like ceviche, tortas, grilled meats, a raw seafood bar, cortaditos, flan, tacos, aguas frescas, and so much more. Check out the menu here.

Chef Richard Sandoval

Chef Sandoval grew up in Mexico City, learning to love the art of cooking with fresh, authentic ingredients in his grandmother’s kitchen. Food was prepared with a love that was transferred to the kitchen table, bringing everyone together as if to a colorful, vibrant celebration. It’s that sense of family, community, and togetherness that he enjoyed the most, and it’s something he’s hoping to achieve with this new venture.

From his father, also a restaurateur, he learned the business side of cooking: service and restaurant management. This passion for food grew enough for Sandoval to take it to the next level and he eventually graduated from the Culinary Institute of America.

Since the opening of his first restaurant, Maya, in New York City in 1997, Sandoval’s career has spanned becoming a culinary consultant, cookbook author, brand ambassador, and television personality. His experience and knowledge have allowed him to create Richard Sandoval Restaurants (RSR), a leading restaurant group with over 35 unexpected and creative concepts around the world. He’s a master of innovative dishes that pair modern and coastal Mexican, Latin-Asian, Peruvian, and Pan-Latin options.Screen Shot 2015-11-04 at 6.45.27 PM

And it doesn’t even come close to stopping there. Sandoval has created menus for the first class cabins of American Airlines, as well as hotels, and has curated one of the largest collections of tequila in America and the Middle East.
