There are way too many options and it can get intimidating fast. But please stay with me! Put down the five-dollar gel. I promise you (and your hair) will thank me later.

To help you make the decision that is best for you and your hair, we have put together a quick list of some of the best men’s products on the market today. Whether your hair is short or long, thick or thin, messy or clean-cut, I promise that there is a product for you. So, if you are tired of hair that both literally and figuratively falls flat, read on to find your new favorite hair product.

  1. American Crew Forming Cream

I have to admit I’m a little biased as this is a personal favorite, but this product really is one of the best for those with straight hair. It is a cream-like product that has medium hold and medium shine that is super easy to apply, even if you have extremely thick hair as I do. It gives a little volume and makes the hair appear fuller and thicker. It also smells really nice and works great for both messy styles and cleaner ones. Make sure to not use too much though, as sometimes excessive amounts can leave a residue on the hair.

  1. Ryan Scott Styling Wax

If you prefer waxes and have curly and/or dry hair, this is just the product for you. While it isn’t a particularly well-known brand, this wax is a great find with a strong hold and matte finish that provides good texture without any greasiness. It can be used on most hair types but is especially useful for the ones mentioned as it is enriched with things like Biotin, Vitamin C, avocado oil, and cucumber extract to help moisturize your hair. It is also colorant-free, paraben-free, and silicone-free.

  1. Hanz De Fuko Sponge Wax
Of course, this wouldn’t be a top hair product list if I didn’t include a Hanz De Fuko product. This great wax has a medium hold with a matte finish but does a lot of heavy lifting providing lots of added thickness and texture without the heaviness that usually accompanies that. As such, it is great for those with thin, flat hair although it does a great job sculpting any hair that is a short or medium length.

  1. Baxter of California Clay Pomade

While this clay pomade looks great in most hair, it is a perfect option for those with medium to long hair as it works perfectly for a ‘just woke up like this’ tousled look. It provides a strong hold with a matte finish that works great for creating texture and movement. It’s also easy to wash out and leaves hair feeling soft and healthy. Pro-tip: It’s also great for slicking back shorter hair!

  1. R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo

I know that this is largely a list detailing best styling products, but it would be a major disservice to not mention this awesome dry shampoo. R+Co’s product, like many competitor’s, promises to absorb excess oil while giving great texture and volume. The difference is that R+Co’s dry shampoo actually does this and all without the gross, white cast or residue that often comes with other dry shampoos. It also doesn’t leave your hair feeling overly dry though, as it contains rich proteins, vitamin E, and pro-vitamin B5 to nourish it. Additionally, this dry shampoo is paraben-free, sulfate-free, cruelty-free, and vegan, so you can feel good using it. It is a great tool for any man to have.
