The Deer Lodge – Ojai, California’s Restaurant, Lodge & Spiritual Get-Away

Spread the love

The Deer Lodge is located at 2261 Maricopa Highway in Ojai, California. The restaurant/lodge is open seven days a week. Ojai is a spiritual get-away for most. It has a population of 8,000 people. Ojai is 15 miles east of the Pacific Ocean and nestled in the mountains which run east and west, as opposed to north and south. Tom Doody and Pamela Robins give back to their community in using local agriculture and local performers.

The Deer Lodge has nightly entertainment, Sunday brunch, an outside BBQ on both Saturday and Sunday at lunch time, and a full lunch and dinner menu seven days a week. The pulled pork, and HOT chili, grilled corn, and grilled turkey burgers pull people in.

The menu appeals to all. The veggie/vegan dishes are outrageous. There is a walnut lentil loaf.Vegan stuffed mushrooms, grilled eggplant, chili cheese fries, garlic fries, and sweet potato fries. However the vast selection of fresh salads, coconut shrimp, and gouda cheddar macaroni and cheese are delectable.

There are wild game dishes including whiskey glazed pork chops, and of the area, Watkin’s Cattle dishes. The 20 Oz bone in rib-eye is one of the best.

The ambiance is old California as the Deer Lodge is an original 1932 stagecoach stop. The building is original. The staff is open, friendly, and inviting.

The Deer Lodge bar is frequented by a clientele that ranges from local farmers to Hollywood luminaires. It features 30 wines from the regional vintners, regional craft brews, and a robust selection of spirits. OJAI, California is happy to have Pamela Robins and Tom Doody a part of their community. They do as much as they are able to give back to the community, and keep the spirituality alive.
