“Toast to the Coast” 2017 Fundraising Event

Spread the love

The Gold Coast Neighbors Association held its annual “Toast to the Coast” fundraiser at the prestigious Racquet Club located in the heart of the Gold Coast at 1365 N. Dearborn Pkwy.

Constructed in 1923 and classically designed by architect Andrew Rebari, the Racquet Club served as the perfect setting for this significant fundraiser. Dozens of Gold Coast residents and loyal supporters turned out on a cold, rainy, and windy spring evening and filled the historical Racquet Club with an unmistakable, first-class atmosphere that only Chicago’s Gold Coast could provide. The evening’s festivities started at 6:00 P.M. with signature cocktails and mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres, followed by remarks from Gold Coast Neighbors Association (G.C.N.A.) President Michael Perlstein.

Accomplished co-chairs Elizabeth and John Gable perfected every detail, creating a dynamic environment, featuring an entertaining live auction, offering everything from prized Cubs box seats, to dinner in a Gold Coast mansion, to an exotic seven-day vacation at the Pristine Bay Golf Resort in the Caribbean. Every penny collected from the paddle raise directly compensates the off-duty Chicago Police officers who carefully patrol the Gold Coast area (on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day), keeping it safe and upstanding for all residents, their children, and all visitors to enjoy.

Originally founded on July 20th, 1957 by Norton Smith Jr. as the North State and Astor Community Association, the Gold Coast Neighbors Association’s mission is to “build a sense of community and enhance our quality of life.” This unique purpose was clear to all in attendance who enthusiastically made the live auction a terrific success and continue to devote their time and attention into preserving the quality and dignity of life in the magnificent Gold Coast.

Congratulations to co-chairs Elizabeth and John Gable, along with Sandie Benen, Kim Bowman, and all of the other dedicated members of the G.C.N.A. who made this 2017 annual fundraiser a remarkable event!
