Royal-Worn Perfumes and Colognes

Spread the love

Royal-Worn Perfumes and Colognes: You already know royals are accustomed to looking good. But anyone who’s been with them up close will tell you they smell good, too.

You can’t see perfume, but the royals spritz as good as they look.

Keep reading as we dive into all-time favorites worn by different royal family members.

Prince William and the Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet

We’ve heard that the prince usually prefers a spring scent. So he would often reach for his favorite, Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet. This luxurious spring scent carries notes of lemon, lime, and lavender mixed with base notes of pine, musk, and black pepper.

The Princess of Wales, Kate

For her 2011 wedding to Prince William, the Princess of Wales chose a springtime scent that was redolent with buttery white floral notes by little-known British Perfumer Illuminum.

Princess Diana

For her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981, the late Princess of Wales wore Houbiquant’s Quelques Fleurs. She chose this floral scent that carried a delicate blend of tuberose, jasmine, lily of the valley and rose.

But we learned from her son, Prince Harry, that her true love among perfumes was First by Van Cleef & Arpels. The Prince revealed this in his memoir, Spare, and noted how the fragrance, with its notes of hyacinth, rose, jasmine, amber, and sandalwood, was so closely associated with his mother years later.

Queen Elizabeth II and ‘L‘Heure Bleue by Guerlain

It was said that the late queen wore this perfume on her wedding day in 1947. And she also loved White Rose by Floris. The perfume has since been modernized. It smells like a fresh, romantic bouquet of white roses with amber, musk, iris, jasmine, and violet notes.

King Charles and Dior Eau Sauvage

While it may seem like the royals have a thing for flowery scents, King Charles preferred Eau Sauvage, a distinct scent made in Paris that hints at something harsh, like pepper or gunpowder, and is backed by flowery notes.

Marie Antoinette

Parfums Lubin, one of the oldest fragrance houses in the world, uncovered the original formula for the Dauphine. It was the exact fragrance they made for the queen before her death. With this, they created a modernized version, including a mix of rose, jasmine, cinnamon, incense, and sandalwood. Some have said it’s the scent of wealth itself.

Louis XVI and Eau du Roi

According to historians and those who’ve been up close with French royals, everything from rooms to furniture in Versailles had to be spritzed. Louis XVI particularly loved the orange blossom scent called Eau du Roi.

Megan Markle

When asked, the Duchess of Sussex has revealed that she loves perfumes. She would never leave the house without spritzing at least one of her three favorites. Meghan said she loves the Wild Bluebell and Wood Sage & Sea Salt colognes by Jo Malone. And her third favorite, Oribe Côte d’Azur Eau de Parfum.

Prince Harry

The Prince is said to be more modest in fragrance than most of his relatives. He has previously worn Davidoff Cool Water and now favors Terre d’Hermes, which gives off “the warmth and density of wood combined with the softness of benzoin and sparkle of shiso.” And happens to be my favorite scent for both men and women.
