Team USA’s 11 for the Paris Olympics Tennis Games

As the Olympic Games inch closer and closer, Americans are getting to know who is raising the flag at the games to come.
In tennis, qualifying for the U.S. team comes down to the rankings on the professional men’s and women’s tours. These rankings are based on points earned from June 11, 2023, through June 10, 2024, after the French Open.
Other considerations that make up the team of 11 include the structure of the games for the Olympics. This states that a nation can qualify up to four players per gender in singles and include two more men and women each to compete in doubles and mixed doubles.
Besides this, we had four top qualifiers opt out of joining the team for the Paris 2024 Olympics. They were Madison Keys, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, and Sebastian Korda, who weren’t too keen on playing on the clay courts at Roland Garros.

Now Team USA’s official 11 are:
On the Women’s Team-
● 4x Grand Slam Mixed Doubles winner Desirae Krawczyk – the 30-year-old will play with Danielle Collins. Both Krawczyk and Collins have played doubles together previously, winning a title in Charleston last year.
● World No. 11 Danielle Collins – Collins’s qualification comes on her final year on tour, and her last year as a professional tennis player.
● World No. 17 + 2024 BNP Paribas Open Quarter Finalist Emma Navarro – With other wins to crown the year, Paris 2024 makes Navarro’s Olympics debut.
● 2023 US Open Champion Coco Gauff – 20-year-old Gauff was the first to qualify this year and will be playing singles and doubles with Pegula.
● World No. 5 Jessica Pegula – Pegula made a comeback after her absence in spring and Paris 2024 will be her second Olympics.
On the Men’s Team-
● 2022 BNP Paribas Open Champion Taylor Fritz – playing singles, and doubles with Paul in the Paris 2024 Olympics, Fritz was the first top-ranked American men’s player before Paul overtook him.
● 2024 BNP Paribas Open Semi-Finalist Tommy Paul – With the current ranking of 12, Paul is the top-ranked American men’s player. “In a lot of other sports, you train and peak at the Olympics, and train harder to get there. Our season is constant throughout the year, so there isn’t a dedicated ramp-up; you always have to be consistent in your game. It’s an interesting sport in that respect. I’m not treating it differently than any other tournament. I want to do as well as I can, but every tournament I play, I want to win just as badly.” said the 27-year-old in an interview earlier this year.
● 2017 BNP Paribas Open Doubles Champion Rajeev Ram – The most experienced player on the team is 40-year-old Ram. This will be his third consecutive Olympics. Ram is set to play doubles.
● 2023 Roland-Garros Doubles Champion Austin Krajicek – 34-year-old Krajicek will play doubles with Ram.
● World No. 44 + 2023 Wimbledon Quarter Finalist Chris Eubanks – Like many on Team USA, this will be Eubanks’ first Olympics and he will be competing in singles.
● World No. 53 + 2014 NCAA Champion (UCLA) Marcos Giron – Seeing his second Olympic games, the 30-year-old Giron will also play singles.
