The 2015 Grammys Red Carpet in Review – Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and more!
Unlike the Oscars or the Golden Globes, where movie stars and celebrities are expected to arrive in the most tasteful, elegant gowns, the Grammy’s expectations are always a little different. Instead of the award for most tasteful gown, musicians seem to play a contest of who can wear the wackiest outfit. Who could forget J.Lo’s plunging green Versace gown in 2000, which actually looked more like a beach cover-up, or Lady Gaga’s grand entrance in a translucent egg in 2011? Nevertheless, the Grammy’s is an event where all fashion rules are put aside, and musicians express their creativity through their clothes, as their lyrics and music are praised for the night; 2015 was no exception.
Although there were many musicians present at last night’s event, here are some that I thought stood out the most.
Beyoncé in Proenza Schouler
Beyoncé always seems to nail it, doesn’t she? This year she was on the safe side (I preferred last year’s Michael Costello number), but she always manages to add a little bit of surprise. The dress may appear conservative, but if you look closely, the skirt is actually sheer, adding a bit of sexiness.
Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
Wow! What a change within the past few years for this lady. Remember a few years ago when she was wearing outfits that covered even her face, and she was wearing outfits that covered every inch of her? I always wondered how she walked (or teetered) in those gigantic heels. This year, she managed to surprise us because, not only did she show up in an outfit that didn’t cover her face with some crazy hat, she wore an outfit that showed more than enough skin, leaving little to the imagination. Oh well, it is the Grammy’s after all. The only rule is all rules left aside!
Katy Perry in Zuhair Murad.
I usually don’t like Katy Perry’s fashion choices, but this one was probably my favorite look of the night. This dress was extremely tasteful, fit her perfectly, and had a lot of texture and sparkle to it that made it stand out amongst the rest walking the red carpet. She kept her own little spin on it by keeping her violet hair, which was a very nice accessory to the glittering sheer dress.
I’ve listed the looks I thought were the most interesting. What were your favorites or least favorites?
