Fashion Week in NY

Spread the love

Fashion Week in NY was officially kicked off on Wed., Sept. 5th with private parties all over New York City; one of which was Wednesday night’s DuJour magazine launch party. Capitale was the site of the event, hosted by Jason Binn, Christy Turlington, and Bruce Weber. Celebrities noticed at the event included Hoda Kotb, Amare Stoudemire with fiancĂ© Alexis Welch, Martha Stewart, Kim Kardashian, Harvey Weinstein and more. Wednesday night’s parties continued with Brian Atwood highlighting his new Madison Ave. store with a spectacular soiree in the poolroom of the Four Seasons Hotel. An event to see and been seen at, while Richard Chai celebrated his new sports-inspired collection with a dinner party at Catch Roof.

Other attractions included retailer Target launching a new line with small boutiques. Unlike the past, Target’s guests were only allowed to buy 5 items, a strategy employed to stop industry-savvy people from buying up the whole store.

Kim Kardashian made a special appearance to launch her new cologne “True Reflection” and signed autographs for all her thousands of fans that showed up at Lord & Taylor.

In the spotlight was Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) on Thurs., Sept. 6th: starting at 6:00 P.M., hundreds of boutiques and fashion shops swing open their doors, inviting the general public inside for a glass of champagne and a glimpse of some glamorous fabrics and designs.

A variety of events took place all over the city in different neighborhoods, with Madison Ave. between 59th and 72nd St. is the most popular area.

Garnering a lot of attention was Kirna Zabete, whose Soho fashion shop appeared to have the most popular selections.

Stealing the spotlight (on Friday) was Project Runway, hosted by supermodel and fashion authority Heidi Klum. In its 10th season, each 90-minute episode (filmed on location in New York City) features the creativity of designers on the runway along with all the drama that happens behind the scenes when these designers attempt to succeed with Fashion Week in NY at Lincoln Center. Charlotte Ronson also made a big splash with her very cool line. Packed house and standing room only from one end to the other.

Overall, the rest of Fashion Week in NY can best be described as the place to be!!!
