The Biggest Myths About Women & Aging Part 2
MYTH 7: Using makeup with SPF is adequate protection
The sun has great effects on the skin of the face, which is why SPF should be an important part of your daily life. Having makeup with a level of SPF is not going to give you the protection you need, except you intend to use up the entire product. Apply a small amount of sunscreen each day, to protect your skin from the effects of the sun, and allow the enzymes to work towards healing.
MYTH 8: An effective moisturizer can fight wrinkles
This is quite misunderstood. A moisturizer does not lessen wrinkles rather the water within them is what hydrates the skin to reduce wrinkles.
MYTH 9: Aging depends on genes in women
Genes play a small but significant role in aging for each gender. However, other factors such as pollution, sun, lifestyle, and smoking contribute as much as 90% to aging.
MYTH 10: Expensive anti-aging products are the most effective
This is false. The high cost of an anti-aging product does not guarantee its effectiveness. Most quality products are affordable and easily available. Look for those with the right active ingredients.
MYTH 11: Diet does not influence aging
Diet influences aging. Foods with a high glycemic index can accelerate aging and contribute to sagging skin. They may also make the skin vulnerable and susceptible to the damaging effects of the sun. Such foods include bread, potatoes, pasta, and so on.
MYTH 12: Sunscreen is unimportant on a cloudy day
This myth suggests that UV may not be present on cloudy days. It is a wrong assumption as UV is present all year round, each day. It occurs in smaller doses that pass through the clouds to cause hyperpigmentation and elastin breakdown. Therefore, sunscreen is important every day you are out of the house. It is also not restricted to just women or those that are older.
