A Silver Lining Foundation : “Glitz and Glamour”

Spread the love

A Silver Lining Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing mammograms and additional diagnostic testing to those in need.

Last month I had the pleasure of attending a fashion show fundraiser and luncheon that benefitted a very worthy cause. On Wednesday, March 18th, guests filled the Gold Coast Room of the iconic Drake Hotel to enjoy a delectable lunch, music by concert pianist Ani Gogova, and an impressive collection of couture fashion by designer Mark Roscoe.

Sandy Goldberg, a cancer survivor herself, founded the organization in 2002 after witnessing a disturbing pattern of thought among some patients. “[They] thought they weren’t worthy because they had no money and no insurance,” she explained. “It made me sick.” She realized that restoring dignity and helping to provide access to cancer screenings and education for the underserved was an important mission. Since its beginning, A Silver Lining Foundation has served over 6,000 women.

The inaugural event went off without a hitch—at least none that any of us spectators could catch! Mark Roscoe’s fashion was gorgeous. A designer for the past three decades, his vision for those to “make a statement without uttering a word” culminated into a beautiful display a timeless pieces and clever twists on classics. All in all, the show was a success that brought light and support to the very serious issue of breast cancer prevention. Each donation of $150 to A Silver Lining Foundation provides a mammogram to someone in need, and 150 more women will be served with the money raised from this luncheon and show.
