Pan American Games Lima 2019
The Pan American Games is a much-anticipated sporting event where thousands of athletes compete in many games. It is a celebration of sports, culture, travel, and more. This year’s event, which is scheduled to take place from July 26th to August 11th, 2019, is hosted by Peru in its capital city Lima.
Up to 6700 athletes from 41 countries will take part in this year’s event. They will compete in 39 sports and 62 disciplines. Horse lovers can always expect some good equestrian games in the events, and here are the updates on them.
The equestrian games are an exciting part of the event. It features the disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, and Show Jumping. The most majestic and toughest of horses will be in Lima ready to compete in these disciplines.
It is set to be the biggest international equestrian show in South America since the memorable Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It is also the biggest sporting event in Peru. Martin Vizcarra Cornejo, the President of Peru, kicked off tickets purchased for the event by being the first person to buy a ticket when it went on sale.
He is excited to host the games and keen on Peruvians winning most of the games. In fact, his words were, “We will have a great sports competition, with 41 countries, where the Peruvians will make a great effort to win. We will set a new record for medals that says, ‘Arriba Peru!’.”
Test competitions for the equestrian disciplines took place at the Army Equestrian School in La Molina. The athletes and officials were particularly pleased with the facilities. They also got to try out a new silica track developed for the Dressage competition. So, it’s safe to say that the equestrian competitions are looking promising to the horse game lovers and athletes participating in the event.
Erick Chaman, Peru’s representative for the Dressage competition also stated, “It’s a first-class and high-quality track that allows the horse to move wonderfully. I’m so excited to be one of the first riders to test it. The silica track allows (the competition field) to be even. There are no irregularities and we avoid injuries to horses.”
The dates for the equestrian games are as follows:
- Dressage games – July 28th– July 31st
- Eventing – August 1st– August 4th
