The Emakoko

Spread the love

The Emakoko is a beautiful location offering luxury, nature, and much-needed serenity.  It is a twenty-four-bed lodge built on the side of a valley on the Mbagathi River, close to Nairobi National Park.  The Emakoko is 45 minutes away from both Nairobi airports.

It’s not every time we recall that as humans we share the earth with some of the most magnificent creatures. It’s even less often that we seek ways to reconnect ourselves to the raw and pure nature of the earth. I for one have decided to do this and see more of the wildlife we co-exist with and fewer skyscrapers or tiled streets.

When you choose to go on a safari to somewhere as unique as Kenya, there are a lot of options to choose from and for me, The Emakoko is one of them.

As far as locations go, The Emakoko is well placed.

Start well, finish even better!

To ensure that you enjoy your safari completely, this facility surrounds you with wildlife and nature within minutes of clearing custom. It is a smooth transition to the lodge, but any delays that occur are usually natural pauses. This could be anything from a pride of lions to a rhino crossing the road. Worth the wait I would say.

The trees surrounding the lodge include Mugumo trees, which are an important part of Kenya’s traditions. They stand out easily. All rooms look over the river and into the park. It’s quite a sight to wake up to and the best way to begin a day of adventure.

There are also birds. A wide variety of birds can be seen all around the lodge. Your most common bird neighbors on the lodge would be the two resident eagle owls and some green wood pigeons. The resident hippo is another popular neighbor on the lodge you might get to see.

The Emakoko does excellently well in offering relaxation indoors and outdoors.

The Emakoko

An adventure

The Nairobi national park stands tall as one of the most majestic game parks in the world. It is the best place, to begin with, a game drive from the lodge. There is also the David Sheldrick wildlife trust or a helicopter trip to Mt. Kenya and Masai Mara.   Enjoying these activities is made easy from The Emakoko. The facility has 4 Toyota land cruisers used especially for game viewing. Your guides are highly knowledgeable on the area and wildlife and are ready to make all game drives a wonderful experience.

The Food

A safari is the best time to explore all new things, including tasty dishes with a Swahili flavor. The food at The Emakoko consists of a rich menu of British, French, Thai, and Indian dishes, put together by a seasoned in-house chef to suit all kinds of eaters.

Hiking

With such a superb location, The Emakoko offers wide open spaces to enjoy running or walking amongst giraffes, impalas, and gazelles.

Now on a personal note, I would like to thank Tim Lapage and everyone at
Safari Experts of Park City, Utah for their assistance in planning this Kenya Safari.
