A Successful 2015 for the Aspen Art Museum
After the successful transition into their massive and stunning new headquarters, the Aspen Art Museum continues to present contemporary art and global culture along with educational and public programs. Exhibits throughout 2015 included work by the likes of British artist Alice Channer, NYC photographer Anne Collier, and Italian multimedia artist Roberto Cuoghi.
Located in downtown Aspen, the new museum was designed by Shigeru Ban, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect. This is his first permanent museum project constructed in the US. His vision, according to ArchDaily was “based on transparency and open view planes – inviting that outside to engage with the building’s interior, and providing those inside the opportunity to see their exterior surroundings.” The AAM is now enjoying a space three times bigger than at its previous location.
A special thanks to Kitzia and Richard Goodman for their continued support of arts programming through board participation for the annual summer benefit gala, ArtCrush. The event, presented by Sotheby’s, brought together prominent art patrons and supporters and helped raise more than $2.5 million in funds for the museum’s programming. That’s impressive!
To top it all off, the institution ended the year with a glamorous gala benefit, THE NOW, which attracted art enthusiasts and fashion jet-setters alike. The festivities featured models wearing designs by Dennis Basso, as well as a private performance by indie rock ‘it girl,’ Grimes.More about The Aspen Art Museum
