Roaring for Gilda’s Club: Erie–LaSalle Auto Shop’s Great Gatsby Party
Roaring for Gilda’s Club: Erie–LaSalle Auto Shop’s Great Gatsby Party celebrated that golden age with a Casino Night at the Montgomery Club.
Featuring a speakeasy casino consisting of no-limit blackjack tables, roulette wheels, and a lively craps table, this soiree had something for everyone, who all arrived in their finest Great Gatsby attire.
Waitresses circulated around the room serving mouth-watering hors-d’oeuvres (including premium sliders from Gibson’s) while bartenders accommodated the thirsty crowd on this festive night where the slogan was “Time to drink champagne and dance on the table.” On display for an impressive silent auction was an authentic N.H.L. hockey stick signed by our Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks, and a custom Callaway golf bag with a golf outing at Chevy Chase country club among other valuable items.
This honorable event which benefits the never-ending research conducted by Gilda’s Club of Chicago to fight cancer and promote awareness garnered a tremendous amount of support as hundreds of guests flowed into the Montgomery Club at 500 W. Superior St. The atmosphere was buzzing as the dice were tossed, the cards shuffled, and music pulsated while scenes from the Great Gatsby movie were shown on a large flat screen T.V.
A signature dinner from Gibson’s was served in an adjacent room, offering a buffet of their favorite menu items, as an empty chair or table was nowhere to be found. Just steps away from the dining area a professional photographer delighted party-goers by taking their picture in front of a Great Gatsby backdrop. For guests feeling especially lucky, a raffle was held to give away treasured items such as a Patrick Kane autographed jersey.
Three levels of sponsorship were created (to benefit Gilda’s Club) for this event: a 10,000 Platinum sponsorship, Gold sponsorship for $5,000, or $2,000 for a respectable Silver sponsor. Midway through the party’s festivities, a representative from Gilda’s Club was introduced by Bob Gottfred (owner of Erie-LaSalle auto shop) and proceeded to explain the pursuits of Gilda’s Club. Their mission statement is to “Ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.”
Everyone attending this fundraiser sang “Happy Birthday” as a special acknowledgment to Bob Gottfred’s Mom, Gladys Goodmonson (also known as G.G.) in honor of her 100th birthday as she was presented with an extra large birthday cake and blew out the candles.
No one walked away from this magnificent Gala with an empty feeling as thousands were raised for a very significant organization as the excitement of the 1920’s were re-lived during one incredible evening.
