Hugh Arnold’s “Agua Vida”
Special guests were invited to view the new Hugh Arnold photography collection entitled “Agua Vida” during a pre-exhibition, opening private dinner.
The impressive dinner was held in the Asmus gallery and began with mouth-watering cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Held as a sit-down dinner, it was catered by Marchesa (the new, hot restaurant spot on everyone’s list) featuring some of their exquisite entrees consisting of broccolini, purple mashed potatoes, along with tenderloin and sea bass, done to perfection.
Desserts were provided by Swirlz Cupcakes: mini cupcakes topped with custom printed Guittard white chocolate discs with an image of Hugh Arnold’s art photography. Very delightful!
As the proprietor of the art gallery, Arica Hilton introduced talented photographer Hugh Arnold to all of the art aficionados in attendance, then Hugh spoke about his current exhibition Agua Vida, described as a “Subliminal journey through life’s significant moments- both on a physical and metaphysical level.” Astonishingly, Hugh Arnold was born in Chester, England and originally trained as an actor; later on becoming fascinated by the outdoors, sunlight, and underwater elements of Fiji.
He traveled to Egypt to learn how to scuba dive, before flying to Fiji to pursue this project. Accompanying this brilliant photo exhibit is Hugh Arnold’s new coffee table book “Agua Nacida.” Translated as “water born” in Spanish, Agua Nacida “Explores the beauty of the human form and a symbolic transition from womb to womanhood, taking us on a parallel journey beneath the surface of the sea and our soul’s hidden waters.” A stunning 368-page book, Agua Nacida features 175 original color photographs, as well as texts by Stella Thomas.
While guests enjoyed dessert, Alexandra Rose serenaded the crowd with a violin recital. Alexandra is the founder of Blue Ring and Senior Editor of Ocean Geographic magazine published quarterly by the Ocean Geographic Society.
Running March 2nd through April 7th, Agua Vida is the second in Hugh Arnold’s Agua series, shot off the coast of Malta, in the Gozo seas. Hugh Arnold is clearly an accomplished photographer whose brilliant and clever talent behind the lens of a camera cannot be overstated as he explores the underwater environment of Fiji and invites us all to enjoy it with him!
