Reasons Why Renee Zellweger Will Win the Best Actress Oscar for Judy
After being nominated for her role in the film Judy, people wonder what’s to stop Renee Zellweger from winning the best actress Oscar for Judy. Apparently, the answer is nothing.
What does it take to win an Oscar? A lot, but then again Renee seems to have it covered. For starters, she has a compelling narrative which is vital for a win. Renee was raised by her parents in Texas who were old-fashioned Europeans. She was great at sports before going into acting. So far she has had three Oscar nominations and one win and most involving the best actress title.
She has had a very impressive career working with roles and films that she excelled in. Now with this Oscar nomination for her juiciest role yet in Judy, we present other reasons why she will take home the trophy.
She portrayed a real person
Fictional characters are actually quite easy to get into as you can always infuse some of you into them. But the tables turn when you have to portray someone who actually existed. The real Judy did more than exist. She was a twentieth-century star which makes her popular and raises the bars even higher for Renee. But we all saw what happened – Renee did not skip a beat. She nailed it perfectly. From her slight resemblance to the real Judy Garland to the makeup and other props added to create as much identical appearance as possible to the acting by Renee herself – it was all flawless.
She’s not new to awards
While this might not be a solid factor for winning, it does contribute something. Yes, Renee has past awards and nominations to put her in a bright spot as a legendary actress deserving of this award. But at this time she has more than the Oscar to win. Starting off at the Golden Globe and in addition to Hollywood’s love for the actress, you can see how this just has to play out in a win.
She portrays someone with an addiction
That can be hard to pull accurately, especially if you don’t have such addictions yourself. Knowing this and knowing the impact of such roles has always created a soft spot in the Academy for actors that portray such characters. There’s a long list of past winners to prove this and amongst them is Al Pacino in “Scent of a Woman,” Nicolas Cage in “Leaving Las Vegas,” Julianne Moore in “Still Alice” and Rami Malek in “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Renee walks us through how Garland’s health took a toll for the worst as a result of her alcohol and drug addiction.
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2019 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. After more than a decade of previously holding the Academy Award ceremonies in at least late February, the 92nd Academy Awards will be held earlier on February 9, 2020
