Contrary to what you might think, creating a homemade body scrub involves common ingredients like brown sugar, oatmeal, banana, and essential oils. Here are some wonderful DIY recipes with their impacts on the skin.

Oatmeal and brown sugar body scrub

Oatmeal is used as a great substitute for coffee in skincare. It is gentle on sensitive skin and helpful to treat skin issues. Brown sugar is also a major player in the skincare industry. It is used in place of white sugar because of its soothing, nourishing, and hydrating power.

What you need

  • Brown sugar- ½ cup
  • Olive oil- ¼ cup
  • Oatmeal- ½ cup
  • Essential oil- 2-3 drops

Procedure

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Cleanse your skin and rub the paste in small circular motions. Make sure the skin is wet when you do this. Leave for a few minutes and rinse. You may also need to bathe or cleanse thoroughly after.

 

Banana body scrub

  • Ripe banana- 1
  • Brown sugar- 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla (optional)- 1 teaspoon

Procedure

Mix the ingredients together slightly, leaving a little coarseness. Rub on your skin while in the shower and allow to sit for a few minutes. After this time massage the body in circular motions before rinsing.

 

Yogurt body scrub

  • Yogurt- 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil- ¼ cup
  • Granulated white sugar- 3 tablespoon
  • Honey–1 teaspoon

Procedure

Mix all ingredients into a coarse paste and apply on clean skin. Massage in circular motions for up to 10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

 

Green tea and salt body scrub

You must have heard of the many benefits of green tea to health and skin. This scrub uses both green tea and salt which is a great combination to get smooth, supple skin.

What you need

  • Epsom salts- 3 teaspoon
  • Baking soda- 3 teaspoon
  • Green tea leaves- 1 bag
  • Jojoba oil or olive oil- 4 tablespoon

Procedure

First, mix the Epsom salts, baking soda, and green tea leaves together. When that is done add the oil and apply the mixture on the skin in circular motions. Rinse off after a few minutes.
