How to Make a DIY Face Mask

A good day in the spa means closing your eyes under the nourishing influence of a face mask. The only problem is you might be too busy for this luxurious adventure. There’s no hard rule that says a face mask can only be made and applied in a spa. In fact, in a few seconds, some helpful recipes will reveal that you can use humble food items like yogurt, oatmeal, and honey to create an effective DIY face mask.

  1. A vinegar facial at home

Vinegar has proven to be one of the most important items in a home. It is useful in cooking, cleaning, and now facials. Mix ¼ cup of water and a ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar.  Apply on a clean face and leave to dry. It helps to tighten the skin and promote freshness.

 

  1. Oatmeal mask to fight redness

When you have been overexposed to the sun and can’t get rid of the redness, look to a soothing and exfoliating oatmeal mask. This facial treats skin inflammation and also kills bacteria. You will need

 

  • Oatmeal- 2 tablespoons
  • Ripe Banana- ½
  • Honey- 1 teaspoon

 

Mash up the ripe banana and mix with the other ingredients. Rub gently on the face for a few minutes then rinse off.

 

  1. All-purpose milk face mask

Some people search for a homemade mask that can treat specific skin problems. When you are unsure, you can use this milk face mask to get results and enjoy a fancy treat. The ingredients are

  • Powdered milk- ½ cup
  • Water- enough to make a paste

 

Make a thick paste by mixing both ingredients. Slather it on your face and allow to dry completely. Rinse the mask off after with warm water.

 

  1. Milk and honey combo facial

This face mask fights blemish and treats acne-prone skin. It is a gentle exfoliating mask. You would also benefit from the antibacterial property of honey for clean skin. You will need

 

  • Honey- 2 tablespoon
  • Nutmeg- 2 tablespoon
  • Milk- 2 teaspoons

 

Mix these ingredients together in a bowl and apply on the face. Allow the mask to sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing with water. Don’t forget to apply a soothing moisturizer after.

 

  1. Pumpkin smoothie mask

Get that extra healthy glow with this smoothie mask. This smoothie is packed with beauty vitamins and nutrients. It is wonderful for the skin and body.

 

  • Canned pumpkin- ½ cup
  • Frozen banana- ½
  • Cinnamon- 1 teaspoon
  • Almond milk- 1 cup
  • Honey

 

Blend all ingredients for one minute in a blender. Apply the smoothie on the face as a mask and enjoy the rest as a nourishing drink. Wait for a few minutes, then remove the mask with a damp washcloth. Rub in a moisturizing serum or cream afterward.

 

  1. Just plain mayonnaise

For a clean and smooth face, plain mayonnaise from your refrigerator is all you need. Coat your entire face in mayonnaise and leave to sit for 20 minutes. Wipe with a damp cloth and rinse with clean, cool water. Like a milk face mask, this mask is the best face mask for all skin types and problems.
