Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit NYC
The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit is one of the most exciting things to hit the art world recently. Some wishes never come true, but if you’ve ever wished to be ‘immersed’ in your favorite artist’s painting, then this one just did.
It’s an exhibit that digitally places viewers or visitors inside the art of the iconic Vincent Van Gogh. The exhibit lights up to 20,000 square feet with two-story projections creating a mind-bending 360° digital art experience. Inside the exhibit, the walls and floors become a Vincent Van Gogh dream world with an immersive experience of the paintings.
You’ll be pleased to know that this Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit NYC is hardly the first of its kind. New York City falls behind a good number of Immersive Van Gogh Exhibits. The 35-minute show first revealed itself in Paris before moving on to Toronto, Chicago, and now New York.
Those who have seen any of these exhibits have nothing but praises and awe. Time Out Chicago’s Zach Long in his review wrote, “The show is packed with eye-catching moments, including sequences that imbue well-known Van Gogh artworks like Starry Night and Wheatfield with Crows with twinkling stars appearing out of inky darkness and brushstroke birds soaring across a canvas…if you’re eager for a peek at what could be the future of experiential art, ‘Immersive Van Gogh’ is a visual spectacle that balances eye-popping photo-ops with a survey of the artist’s work that’s more comprehensive than any single physical exhibit could possibly manage.
The show is set to a score that combines lush orchestral arrangements with textural electronic compositions, plus a track by Radiohead.”
Of course, COVID-19 requirements have not been ignored in this highly anticipated show. The precautions to be used include masking, temperature checks, and social distancing. Images from past Immersive Van Gogh Exhibits show distanced markings on the floor to keep distancing in check.
There’s no doubt this immersive experience is a new and magical way to enjoy art, especially when it’s been introduced through the incredible works of one of history’s greatest artists.
The digital experience will make it easy to introduce art to visitors of all ages and thrill lovers of Van Gogh’s art.
Tickets are being sold at $29.99 for kids, $99.99 for the VIP Flex tickets, and basic timed tickets are at $49.99. Even more exciting are the VIP Flex tickets come with a limited edition poster, priority access, flexible admission, a souvenir laminate, and a van Gogh cushion.
The show will open on June 10 and run through September. Information from the exhibit’s website says the location is currently a secret. It will be revealed in good time. The site also says, “The installation includes the Les Mangeurs de pomme de terre (The Potato Eaters, 1885), La Nuit étoilée (Starry Night, 1889), Les Tournesols (Sunflowers, 1888), and La Chambre à coucher (The Bedroom, 1889), and so much more.”
